Frequently Asked Questions

Congratulations on taking the first step. You will receive a response within 24–48 business hours (Monday–Friday) using your preferred method of communication to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.

During this call, I will learn more about what you’re looking for in therapy, answer any questions you may have, and help determine whether we feel like a good fit. If so, we will schedule an intake session.

Like many specialty providers, H. Schwartz Therapeutic Services does not accept insurance. However, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement using your out-of-network benefits.

I recommend contacting your insurance provider before scheduling to ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible for out-of-network services?
  • What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?
  • What is my financial responsibility per session?
  • Is there a maximum reimbursement per session?
  • Is there an out-of-pocket maximum?

Paying out-of-pocket allows for greater privacy, flexibility, and the ability to receive specialized care without insurance restrictions.

Virtual therapy allows you to access specialized, trauma-informed care from the comfort of your own space. Being in a familiar environment can help your nervous system stay more regulated, making it easier to do meaningful work without the added stress of commuting or rushing to an office.

Virtual sessions also make it easier to stay consistent, even with busy schedules, travel, or parenting demands. Most importantly, working virtually allows you to choose a therapist who truly fits your needs, rather than limiting yourself to whoever is closest.

Sessions are available Monday through Friday.

Most clients meet weekly, especially at the beginning of therapy. I ask all new clients to commit to weekly sessions for the first 6 weeks so we can build momentum and start on a strong foundation.

After that, we may adjust the frequency depending on your needs, goals, and progress.

The length of therapy varies for each person. Some clients come for short-term support, while others working through complex trauma or long-standing patterns may benefit from longer-term therapy. We will talk openly about this throughout the process.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your care.

Under federal law, healthcare providers must give clients who are not using insurance an estimate of the total cost of non-emergency services.

You have the right to:

  • Receive a written estimate before services begin
  • Request an estimate at any time
  • Dispute a bill if it is $400 or more above the estimate

For more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Colorado Division of Insurance at 303-894-7490.

I understand that life happens, and I ask clients to give at least 24 hours’ notice if they need to cancel or reschedule.

If less than 24 hours’ notice is given and we are unable to reschedule within the same week, the full session fee will be charged.

To allow for unexpected situations, I offer one late cancellation without a fee.

This policy helps protect time reserved for you and supports consistency, which is an important part of the therapy process. Thank you for understanding.
